VORTEX

The refrigeration circuits designed to be used with hydrocarbons (e.g. R600a) normally use a compressor lubricated with mineral oil. After the refrigerant charge phase, the refrigerant fluid is partially mixed with the lubricant oil, especially inside the compressor.
The mixing percentage may change according to the ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.), and may increase if the compressor is turned on (e.g. for the functional test).
The mixture of oil and refrigerant persists at low pressures. For this reason, when it is necessary to repair a circuit charged with hydrocarbons, it is not recommended to exhaust it to the atmosphere nor to evacuate it.
By exhausting the circuit to the atmosphere, a residual quantity of isobutane mixed with oil (50 % of the charged quantity) might remain inside the circuit. Even by evacuating the circuit for a long time, some residual isobutane might remain mixed with the oil inside the circuit.
In order to evacuate as much of the hydrocarbons as possible, a particular exhaust/evacuation procedure must be performed.
This procedure enables the execution of the following repair operations in safe conditions and to proceed with an accurate charge (the charged quantity is added to the residual refrigerant mixed with the oil).
The VORTEX M system has been designed to satisfy the market demand for charging refrigeration units with flammable and/or explosive gases. VORTEX M has been designed to operate on refrigeration repair lines and for circuits charged with hydrocarbonS (e.g. R600a - isobutane). Before proceeding with the repair operations, it is necessary to evacuate all the refrigerant contained inside.
VORTEX M system can automatically perform the evacuation procedure of flammable refrigerants, including those mixed with oil. The unit is composed of one cabinet provided with wheels and containing:
• Microprocessor electronic control unit;
• Pre - evacuation system;
• Evacuation system;
• Power supply panel for refrigerators. The equipment has been designed and manufactured according to the strictest international safety standards regarding operators and environment protection. VORTEX M meets the regulations required by the CE standard (89/392, 91/368, 93/44 and 93/68). The electrical and electronic system complies with the electrical safety standard (EN 60204-1) and with the electromagnetic compatibility standards (EMC).
